The Chinese Leaf Gim is considered a civilian weapon. It is not particularly suited to harsh battles where it could be matched against much larger and heavier weapons. It was more or less a gentleman’s sidearm that looked impressive, yet was sturdy enough to provide good defense in the streets or in open fields. Cold Steel®’s interpretation features a 33 ¼ inch high-carbon, heat-treated blade. It is relatively light, so it can be handled with the fingers, wrist, and forearm similarly to a Western small sword. Traditionally used primarily for thrusting, it is almost equally adept at slicing and cutting, and it can deliver a truly fearsome blow. The rosewood handle and matching scabbard complement the guard, pommel, and other fittings, which are cast from stainless steel to resist corrosion. The Chinese Leaf Gim is intended to be an easily portable, highly functional everyday sword suited to our modern environment, with enough ornamentation to truly catch your eye and provide years of enjoyment and protection.
