Nature and the natural world have been a source of artistic inspiration in Japanese culture for many centuries. Floral motifs are often used in Japanese decorative art, from chrysanthemums to cherry blossoms; it is an elegant form of decoration and a look that always pleases the eye. Our Flower Katana features a stylized floral pattern on the silver/nickel Tsuba and Kashira. It has a forged folded 1060 carbon steel blade with a convex grind. The blade edge has undergone differential heat treatment to create a clay-tempered Hamon in the characteristic Japanese style. The attractive hardwood handle is tightly wrapped in black silk cord and includes traditional Menuki ornaments and Samé (ray skin). The included black lacquered Saya (scabbard) is made of hardwood and finished with traditional Japanese silver/nickel fittings.
