” Sonoma” is the latest design in our ACE line of knives with unlimited production. If you’ve seen photos of the Sonoma on Instagram or Facebook, it should come as no surprise that a large part of our inspiration for this model came from the GiantMouse GM3, a sleek men’s folder that was very well received by our customers in 2017.
While the Sonoma is part of our ACE line, we decided to go all out on this first release from our newest manufacturer, Reate Knives. We designed it with a milled titanium skeletonized buckle, rather than the standard ACE series wire buckle, and anodized titanium swivel sleeves and backspacer similar to what we did on the limited edition GM series knives. Two versions of the Sonoma will be available upon launch – one in stone titanium with a satin finish and one in PVD titanium with a fine stone blade.
In May 2021, we released the Deep Pocket Carry Clip for the Titanium Sonoma, and going forward, every Titanium Sonoma sold will include this clip as an accessory, so you can swap out the milled titanium clip for a deep pocket clip as needed.
Our decision to name this folder is a nod to Sonoma County, which lies north of GiantMouse’s original headquarters in Marin County, California. Sonoma is known for its scenic beauty – rolling hills and valleys, acres upon acres of vineyards, and more than 250 wineries. With its alluring landscape, coupled with amazing food and wine that never ends, Sonoma is the perfect place for the GiantMouse team to get our creative juices flowing.
