Robin Hood, "The King of the Woods", an outlaw who roamed Sherwood Forest at the beginning of the 14th century, was born around 1290, the son of Adam Hood, a forest ranger in the service of the Earl de Warenne and Lord Wakefield.

Robin became a popular hero for his defense of the homeless; Robin Hood's sword always served the poor. He took the wealth of the powerful and distributed it among the poor; moreover, by mocking the unpopular authorities of the time, he won the support of oppressed peasants.

Robin Hood's adventures in the forests continued until about 1346; it is said that in that year he died at Kirklees Priory.

The story ends when Robin Hood, sword in hand, rises one last time before dying and shoots an arrow from the window of his room toward the forest, asking to be buried where the arrow fell. Even today, it is possible to see the place Robin chose as his tomb.

Robin Hood is a romantic tale that has been kept alive and retold for 600 years, giving rise to a series of creations of the mythical sword of Robin Hood.
