Spyderco Manix 2 Salt C101PYL2 Folding Knife
Detailed product description
Spyderco Manix 2 Salt Lightweight Folding Knife – CPM-MagnaCut Satin Plain Blade, Yellow FRN Handles – C101PYL2
Introduction
The Spyderco Manix 2 Salt Lightweight proves that even a folding knife can be as tough as professional diving equipment. For the first time in the history of the Salt series, it brings the legendary Manix 2 design together with ultra-corrosion-resistant CPM MagnaCut stainless steel and the unique Ball Bearing Lock system. This model is designed for extreme durability in environments where salt and moisture are constant enemies – whether you are on a boat, by the sea, or working in wet conditions.
History and development
The Salt series was introduced in 2003 and set a new standard for knives with extreme corrosion resistance. The original models were based on proven Japanese back lock folders, but in 2017 the Caribbean Salt joined the family with the more modern Compression Lock. The Manix 2 Salt Lightweight, however, is the first to combine the Ball Bearing Lock with Salt construction.
The inspiration was the original Manix 2 Lightweight – a revolutionary knife with a translucent FRCP handle that won the Most Innovative American Design award at Blade Show 2010. The Salt version pushes this concept even further thanks to the use of premium CPM MagnaCut steel and carefully selected corrosion-resistant components throughout the mechanism.

Key parameters
Key benefits
- CPM Magna
- Cut – premium stainless steel with an excellent combination of toughness, edge retention, and corrosion resistance.
- Ball Bearing Lock – smooth operation, high strength, and fully ambidextrous use.
- Ultra-lightweight – only 82 g for comfortable carry.
- FRN handle – durable, lightweight, with a deep non-slip pattern.
- Full corrosion resistance – not only the blade, but all metal parts are carefully selected to resist galvanic corrosion.
- Drawbacks
- The bright yellow handle may not appeal to everyone aesthetically.
- The Ball Bearing Lock requires some skill to disassemble for maintenance (if needed).
- Maintenance and sharpening
- CPM Magna
- Cut is among the best stainless powder steels and requires standard care – after use, simply wipe the blade clean and occasionally treat it with oil against corrosion. Thanks to its resistance, the knife is not prone to rust even in a marine environment.
- Sharpening can be done using standard sharpening tools; when the correct angle is maintained, the blade will keep its excellent sharpness for a very long time.
- To maintain the edge, we recommend the Spyderco Tri-Angle Sharpmaker Complete Sharpening System 204MF – ideal for plain edges as well. 🛒 Available on our website Moskito.cz.
