Description
Set of 2 Spyderco Triangle Sharpmaker Cubic Boron Nitride Rods 204CBN These are steel triangles coated with binder and then coated with cubic boron nitride particles. Cubic boron nitride is a superabrasive that is second only to diamond in hardness. It offers superior abrasion resistance and thermal conductivity compared to conventional abrasives such as silicon carbide and alumina, making it the preferred abrasive in many advanced industrial grinding applications. Now you can combine the benefits of this fast-cutting superabrasive with the convenience and ease of use of the Spyderco Tri-Angle Sharpmaker. Extremely hard abrasives are recommended when you want to remove material, for restoration purposes and aggressive reshaping, re-chamfering and re-profiling the cutting edge. CBN grain size is about 40 microns CBN abrasive is significantly coarser than medium ceramic stones CBN bars should be used with VERY LIGHT pressure. Recommended use is less than 5 grams (there are 28 grams in an ounce) and excessive pressure can cut the abrasive from the base layer that bonds it to the rod. It is recommended to mist the bar with water before using it to reduce metal dust and slow down the abrasive process The bars are ideal for reprofiling the bevel angle of a knife or beveling chipped or cut blades As the abrasive is coarse, users should expect some work with medium stones afterwards if they wish smooth the bevels to a finer grain. Dimensions 17.8 x 1.3 cm
