It included a folding spoon, blade, skewer, fork, spatula and toothpick and was literally centuries ahead of its time in many ways.

Today’s multi-blade pocket knives offer amazing versatility in a compact, extremely affordable package. They range from basic designs like the classic Boy Scout knife to sophisticated folding tools that offer over 30 different functions. However, despite their usefulness, conventional multi-blade designs all suffer from the same limitations. The smallest ones are true pocket knives and have to compete with coins, keys and other items in the bottom of your pocket. Their larger and more capable counterparts are often too large to carry comfortably in a pocket and require a belt holster. Perhaps more importantly, the various tools on these knives rely on traditional notches or fingernail notches to open. Together, these shortcomings often make using these tools slow, tedious, and nail-breaking.

Spyderco ‘s unique ClipiTool family overcomes these challenges by combining the functionality of a classic multi-blade pocket knife with the benefits of clip-on carry and Spyderco’s trademark round bore. The result is a revolutionary class of everyday carry tool that fits comfortably in the top of your pocket and is instantly accessible and easy to open.

Spyderco ‘s first three ClipiTool designs, introduced in 2014, combined a sliding joint non-locking primary blade with collapsible secondary tools that included scissors, a serrated blade, or a combination bottle opener and flathead screwdriver. The distinctive round holes in both the blade and the secondary tool made them a breeze to open and proudly proclaimed their Spyderco identity. Their satin finish stainless steel handles also featured hourglass clips for convenient top pocket carry. These distinctive features quickly won the ClipiTool concept an audience of dedicated end users. They also inspired requests for other designs offering additional tools and features. In response to this demand, Spyderco is proud to announce the ClipiTool standard.

ClipiTool Standard
The ClipiTool Standard elevates the original concept of the ClipiTool family to a full-sized pocket knife with two additional folding tools. The star attraction of this design is the completely flat leaf-shaped blade made of 8Cr13MoV stainless steel. Unlike its smaller sliding-joint brethren, the PlainEdge primary blade of this ClipiTool opens securely with a solid insert lock mechanism. It is complemented by a folding can opener/small screwdriver and an opener/large screwdriver with a wire stripping notch. Both screwdriver heads are hollow ground to ensure a secure fit in slotted screws. Although they don’t lock, they are supported by robust spring mechanisms that keep them open during use, and have “half stops” at the 90 degree point, allowing the handle to be used for extra leverage. Like the primary blade, both tools are precision machined from 8Cr13MoV stainless steel and feature textured index fingers and generously sized round trademark holes. A characteristic feature of all Spyderco knives, the circular opening proudly identifies the knife’s pedigree and allows quick and easy opening of all three tools with just one hand.

The ClipiTool Standard handle is built around a construction of stainless steel inserts, textured black G10 scales and solid stainless steel back inserts and springs. Its screw-on design ensures precise alignment of all parts, and the two-position hourglass clasp provides the option of right-side up or down-down wear.

Specifications
Blade length
ClipiTool 3-blade: 8.75 cm
Can opener: 3.57 cm
Bottle opener: 3.62 cm
Length when closed: 11 cm
total length
ClipiTool 3-blade: 19.75 cm
Can opener: 14.57 cm
Bottle opener: 14.62 cm
Blade material: Stainless steel 8Cr13MoV
Blade grind: Fully flat
Blade Edge: Smooth
Handle material: G10
Handle Color: Black
Locking mechanism
ClipiTool 3-Blade: Liner Lock
Can opener: Slipjoint
Bottle opener: Slipjoint
Pocket clip: Flip-up, right-hand wear
Weight: 4.2 oz.

The oldest known multi-blade pocket knife was developed by the Romans around 200 AD.
