Spyderco Assist Rescue Orange C79PSOR Folding Knife

Spyderco named this knife after its main working function, Assist. The Assist was designed for emergency/fire/rescue professionals (and well-equipped civilians) who rely on their knives to perform flawlessly under pressure. Despite twenty-five years of experience in the production of rescue knives, Spyderco continues to offer new high-tech features, and the Assist model represents the latest and greatest in this genre of knives.

The patented VG-10 blunt tip blade is 80 percent SpyderEdged serrated for aggressive cutting of seat belts and fibrous material. We left the last inch of the tip with PlainEdge for detail cutting (think pencil sharpening). Perched above the round hole, the Cobra Hood places the thumb directly above the hole for quick blade deployment, then serves as a leverage platform for the thumb. The wavy pattern cut from the top of the blade (created by a firefighter from Sweden) and along the inside of the handle allows a piece of rope to be placed (between the partially open blade and the handle) and the scissors closed – especially convenient for cutting rope into and around meat without having to fully open/expose the blade knives. The FRN Safety Orange Grip is a sculpted marvel of bi-directional textured contours and bulges that ergonomically wrap around your palm. In the closed position, push the blade deeper into the handle and a retractable glass shattering carbide point protrudes from the base. In contrasting black on the back of the handle is a shrill and attention-grabbing survival whistle. Left/right hand transfer, tension wire buckle folding.
